Founder. Primary teacher.

Hey guys, my name is Nick and I am the founder of the In Motion Mentoring program.

I am a 26 year old primary school teacher here in Adelaide who has a vision of doing more. I have been teaching for 3 years now, and on my journey I have realised that there is only so much you can do inside the classroom. I’ve set out to do more. I’ve set out to have a real, lasting & positive impact on as many young lives as possible.

All this has lead me here, introducing you to In Motion Mentoring.

As a teacher myself, I get it. I get what our teens and young people go through. For years now, I have put myself on their level to understand the complexities and worries that they face every day. I have based my whole teaching practice around relationship building, positivity and having an open-mind. More often than not, I have realised that our young people just need someone to be there, listen, and support. Not provide the answers. I have learnt that consistency is key, and consistency builds trust. When someone consistently shows up for a young person, they develop trust and feel valued. That’s what the program is built for. Providing a support network that enables a sense of trust and value into our young people. Ultimately, building an environment where they feel supported to push themselves out of their comfort zones, take risks & begin to figure out who they are and who they want to become.

My vision is to develop this program into something bigger than just mentoring. I aim to build a community of people who share the same values and vision as I do, to ultimately reach the lives of as many young people as possible. What makes my program different from the others? Realness. Being there for young people is my day job. Day in, day out. It’s what I truly care about, making a difference and showing up.

If you are considering jumping on board, please reach out. A simple phone call might make all the difference and clarify queries you might have.

How we work.

  • Mentoring seems like the way to go? Jump over to our Contact us page and reach out. There are often a bunch of questions around what the program offers and how it works. A quick phone call or email is a great way to answer any queries.

  • After reaching out, we set up a meeting with the mentor to say hey! This part can sometimes be a bit nerve racking for the mentee, which we totally get. That’s why it’s often a great idea to set up a meeting with the mentor and family first. This way the family can answer those questions about the mentor before meeting them! A great way to reduce any worries. This is the perfect time to get to know each other, and have a super casual chat about who we are and what we’re about.

  • Once you’re ready to begin, we start looking at the goal setting process. What do you want to achieve out of our mentoring program? Confidence building? Social skills? General life skills? We sit down with you and the mentee to set some achievable goals to aim for during sessions.

  • Let’s achieve these goals! The first few sessions are completely based on relationship building and developing trust. For a young person, getting to know their mentor and who they are is the most important part. We do this by engaging in activities based around the interest of the mentee, where they feel most comfortable, and most engaged. A perfect time to get to know each other! Once there is an element of trust, we begin to look at achieving goals, pushing comfort zones and growing as an individual.
